The zero water filter is the best counter top, drip filtration unit that I am aware of. I personally use it at home. It doesn't create massive amounts of waste water like reverse osmosis. It doesn't have long filtration times or high upfront costs like steam distillation. It filters way better than other counter top filters like Brita.

A HEPA filter, will filter out 99.97 percent of particulate in the air, including mold spores. The UV light above can be installed in an HVAC system, and will kill any mold spores exposed to its' light. The HVAC filters above are MERV 13 rated, and will also remove mold spores from your homes air. These are some additional steps to take in the case of mold contamination, but you may need complete mold remediation for your home and a physician guided mold detox for your body. The most important thing to avoid in mold detox is going to fast. If it is not done slowly a mold toxicity crisis can ensue. Please contact us if you believe you are suffering from mold toxicity.

Daily Rejuvenation Practices
Having daily practices that help rejuvenate the body is a great way to maintain the effects of Osteopathic treatment and increase one's over all sense of well being.
1. Upon waking it is a good idea to use a tongue scraper to remove dead cells and debris from the surface of your tongue. Amazon is a great resource for things like this, here is a link to purchase one.
2. Along with brushing your teeth, oil pulling can be used to decrease the levels of harmful bacteria. Swish with an organic ghee or organic coldpressed coconut oil or sesame oil for 10 minutes. Then spit and rinse.
3. Swallow 1 tsp of high quality raw organic oil (such as grassfed ghee, olive, sesame, coconut, almond, sunflower) first thing in the morning and last thing before bed.
4. Drink a large glass of warm or room temperature filtered water in the morning after the tsp of oil . I personally use a Zero Water filter. It is important to use room temperature or warm water because cold water will temporarily suppress the body's digestive enzymes. It is especially important to avoid drinking cold water with meals as digestive enzymes work best at body temperature. Therefore, cold water slows digestion and causes the stomach to pass along incompletely digested food.
5. Maintain a practice of physical activity such as yoga, walking, jogging, swimming to get your energy moving in the morning. Research supports 150 minutes of moderate activity or 75 minutes of intense activity per week, or a mix of both. Call us today to make an appontment with our resident Yoga instructor/massage therapist, Tatiana, for one on one yoga instruction. Of course, consult your physician before beginning any exercise program.
6. Find a comfortable upright sitting position and focus your mind on something such as your breath, an image, a word or phrase, or simply listening to the sounds around you. Maintain your focus for 5-60 minutes (less in the beginning adding more time as you are comfortable). Your mind will wander. Simply return to your focus whenever you find you are distracted. If you find yourself judging how well you are doing, return to your focus. Do this practice for the sake of the practice, not for some imagined goal.

Mung Bean Soup Recipe (~4 servings)
1. Soak whole mung beans (buy them HERE) overnight in water and rinse in the morning 2. Heat Ghee (preferably organic and made from grass fed cow's milk) on medium heat. 3. Add 2 tsp mustard seeds to ghee. 4. Once mustard seeds pop, add 1 tbs of mild curry powder and stir. *This powder is a mixture of turmeric powder, coriander, cumin, fenugreek, black pepper, ginger powder and asofoetida at a ratio of 8:8:8:1:2:2:1/8. You can play around with this and add other spices as well such as ajawan, fennel, or others. So if you use 2 cups of turmeric for the powder mix you would use 2 cups of coriander, 2 cups of cumin, 1/4 cups of fenugreek, 0.5 cups of black pepper, 0.5 cups of ginnger powder, and about 1 tbs of asofoetida. 5. Once spice mixture is very slightly toasted add 2 cups of soaked mung beans and stir. 6. Once mung beans are slightly toasted add 6-8 cups of water, depending on your desired level of "soupyness," and bring to a boil. 7. Once boiling, turn the temperature down to low, cover, and simmer for 45 min - 1 hr. 8. Remove from heat and salt to taste (Ideally with Himalayan or sea salt). Note - This recipe can be adjusted by adding vegetables for the last ~15 minutes of cooking. It can also be turned into kichadi by adding rice and vegetables to the last 20 minutes of cooking. If adding, rice be sure to use enough of water to cook both beans and rice. |
